From the desk of the Editor - Mark Ellery
Hi everyone, it is with some regret that recent events have intruded on my role as the editor of the magazine. I foresee that some of these events will have ongoing implications which will require more of my attention from time to time and by their nature demand my attention taking priority over the magazine. The recent events involving my mum and dad are just a couple of examples. Work on getting my car finalized has come to a halt as I have had to focus on other things. I can only thank Jim Kerr for his efforts to date and get back involved with it now as I want to get it done.
Whilst doing the magazine is a daunting task it should not be. Our club and its members do some amazing stuff, our Concours and other events are equal to that of any club overseas in all but numbers. We may not have the same variety and number of cars but our standards are very high and they do not have our great members.
The magazine is developed around a format which is easy to use and the support an editor gets from Haynes Bookworks is great. Sourcing information for the magazine is one of the most interesting aspects of the role as you learn so much about these great cars. It is great if you can get to a range of events however over the last few years I have not been out and about as much as I would like but was still able to get the job done to the satisfaction of members.
I would encourage anyone who is interested in the role to nominate. I will provide all the assistance I can to ensure the transition is both informative and as easy as possible. I have enjoyed my short time in the roll enormously and I am grateful to the club for allowing me the opportunity.
Editors Comment
I try not to do this to often but on this occasion it is a must. A number of people have over the last few years carried the role of National Committee and now for personal reason they need to move on.
As members we should recognize their efforts to continue the tradition of our club as a strong National organization. The National organization allows us all to enjoy access to a magazine, and other services which we would have to pay increased costs for if we did not have it.
Prior to the National meet we need to develop a way forward to ensure we keep our club viable to enable all of us to enjoy the benefits it gives us and for the future of our cars.
A strong club culture and presence of our cars in our chosen hobby also helps preserve interest in them and likewise their value
